My Hours is perfect for small teams that want a reliable, straightforward time card app for small business needs, along with strong client billing and cost management capabilities.
It includes a fully featured mobile app for tracking on the go, making it easy for remote workers to capture billable and non-billable hours across unlimited clients, projects, and tasks. Office-based workers can also track in real time using the desktop app and browser extensions.
The reporting tools provide incredible depth, offering visibility into team productivity, project profitability, and much more. Custom fields and tags enable you to easily view the data that matters most.
Intelligent timesheet approval workflows allow supervisors to verify accuracy for payroll and billing, while automated alerts remind workers to track time and stick to target hours. There are even budget management features and expense tracking capabilities.
Although My Hours is light on project management tools, it does integrate with your favorite platforms. But the real winner is how it’s incredibly easy to use. Its intuitive interface and tools make time tracking part of the daily workflow, without adding to the administrative burden.
“My Hours time-tracking software provides everything we need as a small business, both for our payroll time-tracking and for customer billing. We've been using it for several years now without any problems. The customer support is great, and any questions are answered by return email within 24 hours. Our employees are happy using My Hours for their hours and tasks on a variety of projects. I haven't had one complaint!”
“The invoice generation and billing features are basic. I would like to see additional functionality, such as an AR system and the ability to customize invoice items.”

While most time tracking apps limit their free plans to a certain number of users, Clockify allows unlimited users.
You get real-time tracking for billable and non-billable hours, timesheet generation, a calendar, and basic reporting. Users can log their hours via the start/stop timer, create manual entries, or use the mobile apps to track time. You also get a Pomodoro timer for focused work.
The idle time detection is pretty useful. If users forget to stop the timer, the system detects this and asks them whether to include it in the time log or discard it. This makes time capture more accurate for billing purposes.
All in all, it’s an amazing free option if you don’t need anything else beyond these features.
The various paid plans include additional features, like customization, timesheet approvals and locking, invoicing, attendance and overtime management, and more.
For example, you can’t access expense and budget management or GPS tracking unless you subscribe to the Pro plan ($9.99/month per user). While this might feel limiting to some, the six different plans mean you can choose a level of features appropriate for your business needs.
“Brilliant software for tracking the amount of time employees use for jobs so that we can ensure the right amount of time is being offered to them in the future. This means less burnout for employees and deadlines being met consistently. The free plan is also great - we never felt pressured to upgrade for a good service.”
“One of the areas that needs further improvement is approvals, both for time and time off requests as well as for expenses. Need the ability to route the approval to either a Team Manager or Project Manager (should be configurable when setting up the project). Also, users should not be able to self-approve time and time off requests.”

Harvest is a strong choice for small businesses that bill clients for their time because it combines accurate time tracking with invoicing and payment processing.
Real-time tracking for billable/non-billable hours comes as standard, along with flexible project costing for time and materials and fixed-fee contracts. Expenses are also tracked on time logs for billing accuracy.
Detailed, itemized invoices can be generated from timesheets and include automated recurring invoices and payment reminders. What makes the whole billing process super convenient is that Harvest integrates with Stripe and PayPal, allowing you to receive and track payments without having to switch platforms.
We do find that Harvest lacks decent customization tools (like tags and fields), and it’s a shame that timesheet approvals are only available on the most expensive plan. That said, it’s a convenient and affordable app for small teams looking for an easy way to streamline time tracking and invoicing.
“Harvest is excellent for managing my time tracking across multiple clients and multiple projects for each of those clients. Having worked in a previous organization that required time tracking, yet didn’t have a tool implemented, it was so cumbersome to maintain my time on a spreadsheet. I also appreciate the ability to make changes—if I forget to switch my timer between clients, or if I attend an event not in front of my computer (where I didn’t start a time on my phone).”
“When adding new users, it can be difficult to make sure they are set up in the right projects if you have a lot of different projects already. It would be ideal if you could copy profiles from one employee to another.”

Jibble is a good time tracking solution for small teams of hourly-paid workers. It has all the usual features you’d expect: real-time tracking on any device linked to deliverables and activities, billable hours capture, and reporting.
You can also choose to have GPS tracking, an attendance kiosk, and even biometric clocking in/out (depending on the plan you subscribe to). Paid time off and staff scheduling are included, too.
We really like the ability to customize overtime rules according to each team. The system will then automatically calculate how much is owed for overtime, based on the rules you set.
This not only takes the effort out of doing it manually, but it’s also essential for complying with labor laws for hourly paid employees.
On the downside, Jibble contains invasive employee monitoring tools like screenshot capture and keystroke logging. We don’t advocate for these things, and you may get employee pushback if you implement them. However, they’re optional, so you can ignore them if you still like the rest of the platform.
“We run a fairly small business, so we didn't need to pay big bucks for a large time tracking software. It's nice that I was able to get the free version and have my needs met. It is also straightforward enough that I didn't even need to watch most of the how-to videos.”
“If I had to mention something, it would be that I wish there were a few more customization options for reports or dashboards. But overall, it’s been very stable and pleasant to use every day.”

ConnectTeam is designed for small businesses with mobile or field-based employees, like delivery teams or cleaning services.
As such, it combines time tracking with GPS tracking, geofenced clock-in/out systems, shift scheduling, and task management. The communications hub is also pretty useful, allowing individuals to chat while keeping all messages in-app and transparent.
For time tracking, you can set break and pay rules in accordance with local labor laws and set up alerts for overtime and time-based discrepancies.
We like the real-time calendar view that shows who’s on the clock, where they are, and what they’re working on, helping supervisors maintain better oversight.
Both billable and non-billable hours can be tracked for invoicing clients, and you can choose to incorporate time rounding to simplify billing.
The pricing is a bit odd, though. Essentially, you get all the features free for up to 10 users, but to get the same deal for more than 10 users, you have to subscribe to the most expensive plan. But it’s still a great option for businesses that need to manage mobile teams.
“The ease of use for both me and my cohorts. I especially like the scheduling aspect and being able to use the previous week as a template for the next week. Also a big fan of the geotracking/geofencing.”
“When co-workers don’t tag my label, I’m not notified of the task assigned to me. I also am not notified about comments on tasks. I also find it annoying that I have to switch between the user view and the other view to have capabilities that I wish were on one page, not two.”

Timely is one of the few time tracking platforms that has fully incorporated AI into its system. It goes beyond simple activity detection and adapts to your working habits and preferred time tracking style.
For instance, it will suggest tags and notes for time logs and automatically group activities according to type. Then, it will pull all data onto a timesheet that can be approved in one click. For field-based or mobile teams, the app relies on GPS tracking to record time logs.
Other time tracking features include detailed reporting, timesheet approval workflows, and idle time detection. Capacity and resource planning are also available with the top-tier plan.
Additionally, the platform has an advanced task management feature, but the bad news is that it’s an add-on cost to what is already a fairly pricey app. Also, be aware that the cheapest plan limits you to 20 projects only.
Overall, Timely is a great choice for busy, multitasking teams who don’t want to manually start and stop a timer every time they switch tasks. However, the cost may put some people off.
“I personally like the automated time tracking in Timely, which is AI-based by learning the habits. It also includes budget tracking and timesheets. It has an intuitive user interface that is very clear and easy. The customer service is also top-notch.”
“It becomes limited when I want to use it on my mobile phone. I had a hard time using it with IOS, but it worked amazingly with Windows.”
